West Ham Bells
Who we are
We are West Ham Bells, the band of ringers who ring for services and occasions (including weddings and funerals) at West Ham Church. We are a friendly, award winning group with a real mix of ages, backgrounds and experience. We have 10 beautiful bells (plus an Ellacombe carillon) and some fantastic teachers – we welcome visitors and new ringers to join us on Fridays, at 7 p.m., for our regular practice.
Learn to Ring
Learning to ring is not just for adults and we accept learners from the age of 10 in our Tower (although under 18's must be supervised by a trusted adult). You do not have to be a congregation member, or go to church, to ring with us. Bellringing is a skill and doesn't require great amounts of strength. Once you learn to ring, you can visit other Towers and try their bells too. Our band members regularly ring at other Towers to support local bands, for special occasions, and in ringing competitions and Essex Association of Change Ringers events. We also regularly facilitate visits from individual bellringers and bands from across the UK, and sometimes from abroad, who want to ring our bells.
Worship
We call worshippers to All Saints every Sunday, ringing before all services, including at Christmas and New Year. All band members are welcome to participate in service ringing, including our learners.
If you are interested in seeing what we do, visiting the Tower or learning to ring, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
